C/R: Two-month-old baby buried alive

A two-month-old baby buried alive at Bantama a suburb of Elmina in the Central region has been rescued by construction workers.
The baby was first sent to the Elmina Urban Health Centre for first aid and later transferred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment.
According to medical staff of the hospital, the baby is doing amazingly well.
A complaint has subsequently been lodged with the police in Elmina for investigations to be conducted.
Information gathered by Starr News indicates that one Peter Ampah, who was working on a plot of land nearby found the baby when he decided to attend to nature’s call.




Ampah narrated that upon reaching the spot, he found the baby’s hand sticking out of the ground between the hours of 7 and 8am.
He said he called for other workers to join in and the baby was rescued.
The Assemblyman for Edina Bantama, Emmanuel Gyeni was immediately contacted and he advised that the baby be sent to the hospital while a complaint is lodged with the police.
The assemblyman has indicated that though the police are investigating the incident, he is also working with people within the community to find the mother of the baby and the circumstances that led to the baby being buried alive.
