JOSE MOURINHO has revealed Manchester United are in talks with Zlatan Ibrahimovic over a return.
The striker is sidelined with a knee injury he suffered while playing for United in April.
The 35-year-old was released at the end of the season, but a new contract is being discussed.
And a comeback in January for the second half of the campaign is something Jose Mourinho sees as a real possibility.
“You know he’s injured, he needs time to recover, he’s not ready to play tomorrow,” Mourinho said.
“It’s not something urgent, that we are desperate to have it done or not done.
“I just think that he was very clear by showing what he did last year was not enough for him.
“He thinks he can do more and wants more at the highest level.
“So we are having conversations and we are discussing the possibility of him to stay with us for the second part of the season.”
United spent £75million to bring in Ibrahimovic’s replacement up front Romelu Lukaku.
But the opportunity to welcome back last season’s top scorer at Old Trafford on another free transfer is appealing to United boss Mourinho.
And Ibrahimovic himself is keen to get back to full fitness and mount another fight for trophies with United it seems.
