Diego Costa to Deportivo: Spanish club hatch plan with Atletico Madrid for Chelsea striker

DEPORTIVO LA CORUNA have reportedly been working on a deal with Atletico Madrid for Chelsea striker Diego Costa.
Diego Costa is currently in Brazil refusing to return to Chelsea after Antonio Conte informed him he could leave the club via text message.

The striker has made it clear he has no intention of playing for the Blues and is only interested in returning to his former club Atletico Madrid.

The La Liga side are currently under a transfer embargo, meaning they cannot offer Costa any game time until January when the ban is lifted.

And according to Spanish outlet La Voz de Galicia, Atletico have discussed a work-around deal involving Deportivo La Coruna.
The report says Deportivo are keen to take Costa on a short-term deal until January before allowing him to move on to Atletico.

However, the plans have currently been shelved due to the Chelsea striker’s wage demands which are reportedly too high for Deportivo.

Express Sport understand Chelsea are demanding Costa returns from Brazil to their Cobham base.

The club want him back in training and to prove his fitness before they will sell.
However, in an interview with the Daily Mail this week Costa insisted he would not go to highest bidder and only has eyes for Atletico.

“Why won’t they let me go if they don’t want me? I have to do what I have to do. I have to think of myself,” he said.

“My desire is to go to Atletico. I’ve spoken to Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia. I said, ‘If the manager doesn’t want me, I want to go to Atletico Madrid’.

“They want to sell me to China or other teams. The language is better for me in Spain. If I’m off, I’m going to the club I want to go to — not the club that’s paying the most.”
