Information reaching Citi Showbiz is that former member of the defunct music duo, Dobble, Paa Kwasi, has cleaved to highlife crooner Quarme Zaggy to form a new group.
Our sources say the two have been recording songs that will soon be released onto the music market. What happened as mere features by both artistes will soon translate into a real music group.
The group, Citi Showbiz has learnt, will be called ‘NuLyfers.’ NuLyfers they say, represent a new breed of highlife musicians whose aim is to project authentic highlife music in modernised persona. According to them, they don’t have to brand themselves in traditional Ghanaian apparel to look like highlife musicians.
“We are the new generation of highlife musicians. We need to make highlife appealing to even the youth and by so doing, we need to brand ourselves in such a way that we can satisfy them too. There are times we would go the traditional way but generally we are new generation of highlife and so we show that in our branding,” Paa Kwasi noted.
In an interview with Quarme Zaggy, he said the two have come to an agreement to work together.
“Paa Kwasi is a very good artiste. After we had done a lot of features on each other’s songs, we realised that there was a bond between us and that we could take this farther. So yea, you can now call us NuLyfers and we are going to take the Ghanaian music scene by storm,” he said.
Paa Kwasi after leaving the Dobble group has released songs like ‘Nipa Dasani,’ ‘Abe,’ ‘Be Warm Me,’ among others.
Quarme Zaggy, a solo artiste, also has hit songs like ‘See Saw,’ ‘Bohye,’ ‘Just the 2 of Us,’ ‘My Desire,’ ‘Matide,’ and the latest, ‘Highlife.’
