George Afriyie told to resign as Ghana FA veep

Central Regional Football Association Chairman M.N.S Doe has told George Afriyie to vacate his position as vice president of the Ghana FA following a purported feud with Kwesi Nyantakyi, likening the situation to Kenya’s political history.

Widespread media reports indicate that, there has been a fierce conflict between the two topmost Ghana FA officials, with the vice president George Afriyie allegedly describing his head of being “wicked, selfish and greedy.”

The duo were reported to have been summoned to a peace meeting by the sports minister and other executive members of the football governing body.

But the vocal Western regional football association, M.N.S Doe has called for Afriyie to let down his job as the veep of the Ghana FA, and compared the situation to Jaramogi Odinga and Jomo Kenyatta of Kenya’s political history.

“I don’t think George Afriyie should occupy that (veep) position again after that text message. He must do the honourable thing by resigning,” the outspoken MNS Doe told Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports.

“Even if the alleged text message George sent to Nyantakyi is true, at least he should have reported Nyantakyi’s conduct first to the EXCO but he didn’t. Do you think he’ll feel comfortable around Nyantakyi even if they resolve their differences? Doe quizzed.

“This is exactly what happened between (Jomo) Kenyatta and (Jaramogi) Odinga, and in the end Odinga resigned because he couldn’t cope. Odinga even consulted cabinet before tending in his resignation, but with Afriyie, no, hence I think he has no business occupying that position. He can resign as veep but still work as an executive committee member.” he deduced.
