MMDCEs politicising our training program – Small scale miners

The Association of Small Scale Miners is accusing MMDCE’s of politicising a program meant to school miners on modern mining methods.

The group says its members who qualify for the program are being side-lined while politicians and party loyalists take their places. The multilateral mining integration project seeks to train at least 1000 small scale miners to use environmentally friendly methods.

Previously the Small Scale Miners submitted names of eligible members for training. Now however, the Akuffo Addo government has assigned MMDCE’s the task of choosing who should be trained.

The Small Scale Miners have asked their members not to register for the training because majority of the persons being chosen by the DCE’s are not members of the association.

An executive member of the group Mike Gizo said the government must desist from politicizing their operations.
