I wish Nananom group is still working – Barima Sidney:

Ghanaian hip- life artiste Sidney Ofori also known as the Rap Ninja has shown his soft spot for ‘Nananom’ music crew.

Nananom group was formed by Sidney, he was an original member of Nananom which also included Omanhene Pozoh, and Jyoti Chandler (Ohemaa – Queen mother).

Their debut album, “Nana Kasa” was a massive hit and after Pozoh left the group, they released “Nana-nono” which also did well.

Some of their songs were Wokyere wo ho, Ewuradwoa, Ofie ne fie, Wo ne hwan, Kwame Nkrumah hye Ghana, Everything is gonna be right, Washeda anaa, Agoo, and many more. They also featured on Agoro on Rockstone’s Makaa maka album (1997).

According to him, ‘Nananom’ group have suffered a lot before hitting into the main music industry stream. “I wish ‘Nananom’ is still together as music group because we had suffered a lot before we became famous. I have missed them so much” he cried loud.

He revealed this in an interview on Bryt FM’s Joy Dadi Showbiz Arena which airs every Saturday between 7pm and 10pm.




The ‘Africa Money’ hit maker added that it is people’s perception that it was because of woman or money that led to the split. “But that is not the case, it was due to leadership tassel between myself and Omanhene Pozo and lack of proper management”. Barima revealed.

He recounted their Nananom days at West Africa Secondary School (WASS) in Adenta where they all decided to take part in then GTV entertainment show, Second Generation and later tried their luck with a show called Recognise 96 on the 10th of August at the national theater of which they won.

He said they parted ways after Omanhene decided to leave the group with the reason that his stepfather wants to produce just him.

He however continued that they re-united to shoot the video of their hit song, Awura Adwoa and “we’ve been friends since”, he said.
