FA Cup: Frimpong’s Late Penalty Sends Kotoko to semis

Kotoko sealed through to the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup after beating lower division side Nea Salamina 2-1 at the Babayara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
The Reds escaped a scare from the division one side as they lived it late to progress to the next round of the competition.

Striker Saddick Adams gave Kotoko the lead in just 16 minute after connecting a pass from Kwame Boahene.
Obeng Junior, who was the brightest spot for Nea Salamina pulled parity for the visitors in the 32nd minute.
Kotoko in the second half struggled to find the back of the net despite enjoying possession, however the Porcupine Warriors had to rely on a late penalty call by center referee Nuhu Liman after a foul on striker Yakubu Mohammed in the 18-yard box.
Captain Amos Frimpong took the mantle upon himself by converting to snatch victory for the former Champions who now joins the likes of Hearts of Oak, Medeama and WA All Stars in the semi-finals of the competition.
