Julian Draxler: Liverpool and Arsenal made favourites to sign PSG star ahead of Barcelona

LIVERPOOL have been made favourites to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Julian Draxler this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly told Draxler he is surplus to requirements following their world-record £198million deal for Neymar.

And news of his expected departure has put the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea on red alert.

Draxler only signed for PSG from Wolfsburg back in January and made an instant impact, scoring 10 goals from 25 games.

And in the wake of the Ligue 1 side’s decision to let him go, Liverpool have been tipped by the bookies to be his next destination.
BetStars have made the Reds 11/8 favourites to land the Germany international, with Arsenal second favourites at 9/2.

BetStars Director of Trading Ian Marmion said: “Liverpool have emerged as the clear 11/8 favourites to sign PSG’s Julian Draxler, after being told he is no longer needed at the Parc des Princes.

“The World Cup winner only joined the Paris side in January but since the arrival of Brazilian star Neymar, Draxler has become surplus to requirements.

“The German international will be the creative influence that Liverpool need should they sell Coutinho to Barcelona.

“Arsenal are second in the running for Draxler and are priced at 9/2 to sign the skilful midfielder, with Barcelona making up the betting at 8/1.”
Should Draxler move to Anfield, it is expected to be as a direct replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

Barcelona remain hellbent on landing the Brazilian despite having two bids rejected so far.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have been linked with Draxler dating back to his time at Schalke.

And, speaking last summer ahead of the European Championships, Wenger admitted he was interested in how the player fared.

“It will be very interesting to follow what Draxler does, from Germany, he is still a very young player,” he said.
