Stephanie Benson goes traditional at Glitz Style Awards

Ghanaian international soul, pop and jazz singer Stephanie Benson, stepped out in style at this year’s Glitz Style Awards in a beautiful green kaba and slit which is uncharacteristic of the singer who courts controversy with her fashion at events.

The traditional outfit comprises a long wrap skirt called the slit, and a matching blouse called the kaba. This customary garment is very symbolic as it is strongly associated with Ghanaian ladies, especially grandmothers.

In its flamboyant modesty, the kaba and slit is meant to fully garb a woman’s frame, but modern women design it in racy fashion, revealing some flesh and make it appear sexier than it is.

Known for her high sense of fashion, Stephanie Benson had her kaba just covering her bra line with her stomach fully exposed.

Her see-through slit was also designed to expose some more flesh – from her thighs down to her legs, but covered the vital areas of her lower body which was good enough not to cause tongue wagging or court controversy.

Stephanie Benson’s kaba and slit was a departure from the see-through dress she wore at the Ghana Music Honours in March this year which got a section of Ghanaians talking on social media.

The Glitz Style Awards 2017, was held on Saturday, August 19 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

The award is meant to recognise members of the fashion industry and individuals with a high sense of fashion and style in their daily lives.
