Roverman Productions urges hotels to collaborate to boost Ghana’s tourism

Ghana’s foremost theatre production outfit, Roverman Productions is poised to using its plays to boosting the country’s tourism sector.
In light of that, the company which has entertained Ghanaians over the past nine years, is calling on players in the tourism sector, particularly hotels, to join forces to achieve that goal.
With over 30 plays to its credit, Roverman Productions believes the time is right to push the frontiers of the country’s tourism.
“The time has come for us as nation to market our creative Arts as part of our tourism,” Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu of Roverman Productions told Myjoyonline.com.

According to him, there should be a “legislative instrument to enforce the use of creative arts industry in our tourism. Hoteliers, conference organizers, tours organized should sell theatre plays, movies, music, spoken word, art exhibitions, dance and cultural display.”
Mr Aseidu encouraged hoteliers to engage “Roverman Production to buy tickets for their guest in their various hotels to go see our productions whenever we have a play or engage us to perform for their guest in the hotels. That’s the four star and five star hotels.”
While urging bodies like the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) to partner hotels for artistes to perform at their facilities for tourists, he does not think “it is prudent for tourists to visit our country and go back empty.”
“Event organizers, wedding planners, family retreat organizers, families and churches should be able to add Ebo Whyte’s plays to their programs and plans,” he encouraged.
Roverman Productions is set to stage its latest play, ‘The Comeback’ on September 2 and September 3 and then on September 9 and September 10 at 4pm and 8pm each day at the National Theatre.
