Ghana’s World Cup qualifier opponents, Uganda depart for the North East region of Bukedea to tour as more foreign based players have joined the team.
Left back Joseph Ochaya, who features at Zambian side Lusaka Dynamos was the early bird to join the rest of the players. He took part in the friendly match against SC Villa (ended 0-0) on Thursday evening.
Team captain and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Dennis Onyango as well as Township Rollers’ newly signed midfielder Ivan ‘Kojja’ Ntege joined the rest of the players on Friday morning.
In his jovial moods, Onyango straight away lifted up the moods of the players available with his customary jokes.
“I am happy to join the team. This is one special family I am proud of. I call upon the rest of the country to rally behind us because we have the ability to get the positive results,” Onyango said.
Other foreign based players present are Vice-captain Hassan Wasswa Mawanda and Dennis Iguma who have been with the team since the non-residential training drills started.
The team departed for Bukedea via Mbale for the famous Uganda Cranes regional tour match, A large crop of locally based players are on the team to Bukedea.
More foreign based players will continue to arrive in the country.
Expected over the weekend are; Geoffrey ‘Jajja Walu’ Walusimbi (Gor Mahia, Kenya), Isaac Isinde (Buildcon, Zambia), Khalid Aucho (on trials at Dundee F.C), Geofrey ‘Baba’ Kizito (Than Quảng Ninh, Vietnam), Emmanuel Okwi (Simba, Tanzania) and Faruku Miya (Standard Liege, Belgium)
Romanian based midfielder William Luwagga Kizito, who turns out for CSM Politehnica Iași is expected on Monday.
