Gareth Bale to Man Utd: Wales boss Chris Coleman hopes he stays at Real Madrid

GARETH BALE is better off at Real Madrid than Manchester United, according to Wales boss Chris Coleman.
Gareth Bale has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer with a return to the Premier League mooted.

Express Sport understands Jose Mourinho is keen to bring the 28-year-old to Manchester United but could hold off until next summer.

However, Wales boss Chris Coleman has admitted he hopes Bale stays in La Liga where he thinks the standard is a better test for the Welshman.

“I think from our point of view my opinion is that La Liga, the tempo and physicality is completely different to the Premier League,” he said.
“Technically some of the teams there are absolutely tip top.

“Being selfish, he’s better off at Real Madrid. You work all your life to get to the top, you don’t want to give that up.

“Where do you go from Real Madrid that’s better? There’s one or two clubs up there but none better.

“I don’t envisage there’ll be a problem with Real Madrid, there never has been, they’ve always been brilliant with us.”
Earlier this month Mourinho admitted he would fight for Bale’s signature should he become available for transfer this summer.

“If he is not in the club’s plans, that with the arrival of another player would mean he was on his way out.

“I will try to be waiting for him on the other side and fight with other coaches that would want him.”

Bale is under contract with Real until June 2022 having signed an extension in October last year.
