Perisic clause
10:54: Inter Milan are to insert an ‘anti-United’ clause into Ivan Perisic’s new contract.
Tuttosport claim Perisic will be handed an improved £82,000-a-week deal at the San Siro.
But the club will make sure a £64m release clause is outlined in the terms, which they believe will be enough to end United’s interest in the player.
Neville talks Mourinho’s spending
10:30: Jose Mourinho will be happy with his transfer dealings despite missing out on Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic, says Gary Neville.
“I think he’ll be satisfied because it was very clear from the beginning he wanted four,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“Jose, to be fair, is usually outstanding in the transfer market and he’s proven it again.
“To get Matic, even Lukaku when he signed it was on the edge of [being] too much money, but now you’re thinking it’s good deal.
“They needed a centre-back and they got Lindelof, they’ve got Ibrahimovic back.
“I think he wanted Perisic, I think he wanted a wide player but hasn’t got it but he understands ultimately that he can’t get every player he wants.
“I think they got good prices so I think they can be happy, maybe he might have wanted one more, but I think he’ll be happy generally with what’s happened in the summer, particularly when he looks at some of the transfer windows other clubs have had that have been frustrating.”
Bale over Griezmann
10:05: Manchester United would prefer to sign Gareth Bale over Antoine Griezmann, reports say.
The Red Devils tried to sign Griezmann from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.
United have also been tipped to sign Gareth Bale regularly throughout the summer despite Real Madrid’s insistence that the 28-year-old will not be going anywhere.
And the Manchester Evening News say the Wales international is the player Jose Mourinho wants more than any other and has been earmarked as a signing in the future.
