MANCHESTER UNITED striker Marcus Rashford may have a problem with his development at Old Trafford if he does not get a chance as a centre-forward.
That is according to pundit and former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs.
Teenager Rashford burst onto the scene for United in February 2016, scoring on his European and Premier League debuts.
His form with the Red Devils led to an England call-up, going to Euro 2016 aged just 18.
However, when played, Rashford has been mainly used on the flanks for both club and country.
With the signing of Romelu Lukaku and the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic,
“Yeah that could be a problem for him,” Giggs said on ITV of Marcus Rashford.
“Like you say, he’s not going to play centre-forward of United too often with Lukaku, Ibrahimovic as well.
“For England with (Harry) Kane, he’s not going to play centre-forward.”
Giggs says Marcus Rashford’s long-term position at Manchester United is as a main striker and can see similarities with Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry.
“He can definitely play out wide, but eventually he’s going to be a No 9,” he added.
“I see similarities with Thierry Henry myself, he’s brilliant off the left.
“Even if he’s playing centre-forward, he drifts off to the left where you can take players on either side.
“But then, if he’s not played centre-forward a lot and all of a sudden Kane gets injured and you ask him to play up front, he can do it.”
