ROMELU LUKAKU insists he is more interested in trophies than goals after moving into double figures in just nine games for Manchester United.
Lukaku struck twice as United swept aside CSKA Moscow here last night to take an early control of their Champions League group.
Anthony Martial with a penalty and Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored the other goals as United made it two wins out of two in Group A.
The Belgium international said: “I just want to win trophies, that’s all – goal targets I keep to myself. I just want to win and we have to keep going on like we did now.
“I just work hard with my team-mates. We need to keep going. We performed well today but it is still early in the season and we need to improve, I am really happy with the win.”
United made light of injury absentees Paul Pogba, Phil Jones and Marouane Fellaini to storm 3-0 up after 27 minutes in the raucous atmosphere of the VEB Arena.
Defender Chris Smalling said: “It was probably the best first half we have played all season and to come here with this atmosphere in one of the toughest games in our group is testament to our team.
“We are showing we can adapt, we can change formation and cope with different atmospheres and play in different ways. This is what’s it about.
“We have set ourselves up nicely and we can’t ask for anything more. Hopefully we can finish top of the group.”
United will be confident of making it four wins out of four in their group – they now face Benfica twice and the fallen Portuguese team crashed 5-0 to Basle after losing their first game to CSKA.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: “We started so strong, we surprised them with our attitude. They didn’t look as good as they are, because of us.
“Lukaku has a great record, we know he is a very good player who can score lots of goals. He is surrounded by quality players.
“I have to admit that he is scoring really important games nearly every game. We are in a good position with four matches to play.
“We are almost there. There was not so much PlayStation football tonight, just a little bit of relaxation. That is normal.”
