Man Utd news: Marcus Rashford can reach the same level as Sergio Aguero – Jermain Defoe

MARCUS RASHFORD is confident with his finishing now and it is only a matter of time before he matches up with the likes of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.
That is the view of Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe.

Rashford, 19, burst onto the scene for Manchester United last season and has proved to be a hit under Jose Mourinho ever since.

He is currently vying for the left-wing position with Anthony Martial at Manchester United and has put in some impressive performances along the way.

The England international has scored five goals in his opening nine games across all competitions so far this term.

But Defoe reckons that once he hits the 20 goal-a-season mark he will be up there with Aguero, who he reckons is the best striker in the Premier League right now.
When asked to pick between Aguero, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata as to who his first choice would be out of the four, Defoe told The Daily Mail: “I’ve always loved Harry. Before Tottenham bought (Roberto) Soldado, I remember saying to the lads that Harry should be in the first team — even if it’s just cup games.

“I’d be in the treatment room and he’d come in. I’d say, ‘How many goals did you score for the Under 21s today?’ He’d say, ‘Two, three…’ Why were they not pushing him through? When I was at West Ham, that’s what it was like.

“If you’re good enough, you’re playing. But if I had to pick one of those strikers, it would be Aguero.

“He’s just unbelievable. Champions League? He’ll do it. Tournaments? He’ll do it.
When asked if Marcus Rashford is capable of reaching the level of Aguero, Defoe added: “I think so, once he has that first season when he’s scored 20 goals.
“You’ve already seen how he’s scored a few goals and looks confident with his finishing now.”

Rashford has the chance to increase his goal tally when United take on Crystal Palace at Old Trafford today (3pm).
