Man Utd News: Matteo Darmian declares David de Gea as world’s best goalkeeper

DAVID DE GEA is the best goalkeeper in the world.
That is according to his Manchester United team-mate Matteo Darmian.

De Gea has conceded just two Premier League goals this season pulling off a number of fine saves and his heroics have vindicated United’s refusal to sell him to Real Madrid despite considering interest.

United boss Jose Mourinho has spoken regularly about De Gea’s importance to the team and is keen on extending his contract, which has less than two years left.

Italy and Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon has been among the best in his position for two decades.
Having had the honour of playing in front of both keepers, Darmian is well-positioned to give his view and the right-back believes De Gea has now moved to the top.

“I know David very well and I think, at this moment, he is the best goalkeeper in the world,” the defender told ManUtd.com.

“He is very important for us and I think that save at Stoke [from Jese Rodrigues) was incredible.

“I think Gianluigi is the best goalkeeper of all time. He’s also a good guy. So I am lucky to play with two goalkeepers like this.
“Of course, it’s close [between the two]. I don’t know.

“I think David is the best goalkeeper in the world and Gianluigi is the best goalkeeper of all time.

“I think they are similar because they are very strong and they make very good saves. They also have good personalities.”
