Arsenal News: Man Utd reject first bid for Anthony Martial as Arsene Wenger eyes transfer

MANCHESTER UNITED have rejected a bid from Arsenal for Anthony Martial, according to reports.
Manchester United have enjoyed a stunning start to the new season, with Martial showing significant signs of improvement from last term.

Under Louis van Gaal, the France international took English football by storm, scoring 17 goals in his first season at the club.

But, after Jose Mourinho took the reins last term, the 21-year-old struggled with his goal tally dropping to eight.

Arsenal are being tipped to move for Martial at the end of the season, particularly with Alexis Sanchez’s future still shrouded in uncertainty.
And Transfer Market Web say the Gunners have already seen a bid for the wing wizard rejected by United.

It is said Arsenal want to get a deal for the youngster done in January.

But it appears United will prove tough negotiators, particularly given the Frenchman’s stunning form.

Martial has already found the net five times this season, despite often being behind Marcus Rashford in the pecking order.
And his six assists have also helped Jose Mourinho’s team remain unbeaten.

Transfer Market Web do not specify how much Arsenal have bid.

But the Gunners must most likely smash their transfer record to convince Mourinho into selling.

Alexandre Lacazette is currently the club’s most-expensive player of all time, arriving from Lyon for £52million in July.
And Martial, particularly given his reputation, would be considerably more.
Speaking last week, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry praised the Frenchman and tipped him for a bright future.

“Anthony Martial is a far better player than I was at that age,” said Henry.

“He can become a world class player.”

Martial could feature when United face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday (12.30pm).
