Reus battle

10:30: Manchester United and Arsenal are both battling for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus.

The 28-year-old is currently sidelined with a cruciate knee-ligament injury but that has not stopped the Premier League duo showing interest.

Reus is out of contract in the summer of 2019 and reports in Germany claim Arsenal and United could both make a move for him in January or the end of the season.

Wenger backs kids to win EFL Cup

08.43: Arsene Wenger reckons his youngsters have enough quality to win the Carabao Cup this season.

The Gunners boss has regularly used the competition to rest key stars and give some of his youth team graduates a chance to impress.

And it will be no different tonight when Arsenal host Norwich.

“I always focus on winning trophies in the Premier League and FA Cup domestically, and always used the League Cup as an education for our young players,” Wenger said.

“But with this team I have the squad to go further. Let’s focus on winning the match against Norwich and then we’ll see where we will go.”
Giroud wins Puskas best goal

08.25: Olivier Giroud was crowned with Fifa’s Puskas Award last night for scoring the best goal in 2017.

The France international’s scorpion-kick volley against Crystal Palace on New Years Day earned him the prestigious award at London Palladium.

Giroud said: “I’m delighted to receive this trophy today in front of legends of football. Now I’d just like to thank the people who voted for me. I would like to congratulate the 10 nominees who scored amazing goals too.

“Obviously I would like to thank my team-mates, without them I couldn’t score maybe this goal, and my family.”

“I think it’s my best one,” Giroud said following the game. “Alexis [Sanchez] gave me the ball a bit behind and I tried to take it [with the] backheel and I had a lot of luck.

“It was just about luck! I was not on good balance. It was a great feeling and I wanted to score from the first minute. I tried to deflect it. In this position, you can do something else, so I was lucky and it’s nice for me and nice for the team.”
