Medical doctors and dentists in the country will from next year have security stamps to differentiate them from quack ones.
The move follows the arrest of some nineteen people who were practising as doctors without licenses.
Some of the quack doctors were arrested after prescribing wrong medications to patients.
The Registrar of the Council, Dr Eli Atikpui told a news conference Monday that there is the need to ensure that all medical officers are properly identified while at post.
“You are going into an institution to receive medical care, whether the institution is owned by an individual, that individual should ensure that the individuals or whoever is wearing a particular name tag is registered and its written there, So From January next year, all doctors, all physician assistants, all certified registered anesthetics that will attend to patients will hold a practitioners tag”.
