Man Utd news: Ryan Giggs DEFENDS Victor Lindelof but hits out at Ander Herrera

RYAN GIGGS has jumped to the defence of Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof after his errors cost the Red Devils defeat against Huddersfield.
The Swede was brought off the bench to replace the injured Phil Jones early in the first half, but he made two costly mistakes in quick succession as Aaron Mooy and Laurent Depoitre put the Terriers 2-0 up.

Lindelof avoided the wrath of boss Jose Mourinho, who usually likes to single players out for criticism, in his post-match press conference.

But he took a hammering from United supporters for his actions, as can be seen in the slideshow below.

United legend Giggs has now called on Lindelof to respond in a positive manner, and thinks the 23-year-old still has lots to offer to the Red Devils’ title challenge.
“One player who has attracted a lot of criticism is Victor Lindelof but he certainly shouldn’t be written off yet,” Giggs told Sky Sports.

“Some players come to the Premier League and bed in straight away and others can take six months or even a year, as it was for Patrice Evra, Jaap Stam and Nemanja Vidic, and they went on to be unbelievable players.

“You win together and lose together and you can’t single out a player, especially when he hasn’t been playing regularly.

“He’s just got to knuckle down and come through this.”
However, Giggs was unhappy with the way midfielder Ander Herrera spoke to the press after the defeat at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Spaniard questioned his team-mates desire to win the match, but Giggs thinks those comments are out of order.

“I am a little bit surprised at Ander Herrera’s comments though because you wouldn’t really comment about your team-mates, you leave that to the manager.,” Giggs explained.

“When you start questioning you team-mates’ work rates, even if they weren’t at it, it can set a dangerous precedent.”
