Man Utd news: Ryan Giggs makes bold Man City title prediction

RYAN GIGGS is expecting league-leaders Manchester City to slip up at some point this season – and he wants the Red Devils to be ready to pounce.
Manchester United currently trail their cross-city rivals by five points after a shock defeat to Huddersfield Town at the weekend.

All the while, City beat Burnley 3-0 without playing anywhere near their scintillating best.

But Giggs, who played 672 Premier League games over a 24-year period at Old Trafford, knows the league inside-out and reckons Pep Guardiola’s side will receive their own shock this season.

“Manchester City are obviously still flying with their results and performances but I think they’ll have their problems,” Giggs told Sky Sports.

“They’ll have their sticky patches and United just need to be hanging onto their coat tails and ready to pounce.
“The fear is that United are not in the place to pounce when Manchester City slip up.

“They have tough games coming up, with Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal before the Manchester derby in December.”

Third-placed Tottenham are also level on points with United and are surprising everyone with their performances and results.

A 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in the Champions League was followed up by thumping Liverpool at home – a result which shocked Giggs.
“The performance of the weekend had to be Tottenham’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool,” Giggs added.

“I must admit I thought they would struggle to compete due to the improvements of the Manchester clubs and with Wembley, but you’ve got to say they are a fantastic team with a fantastic coach.

“Without a shadow of a doubt playing at the Bernabeu helped prepare them for that game. Once you get those sort of results you have an invaluable belief.

“I’ll stick with going with one of the Manchester clubs for the Premier.
