Man Utd news LIVE updates: Real Madrid transfer hope, Mourinho questions Chelsea deal

MANCHESTER UNITED news is coming thick and fast with the Red Devils preparing for their Premier League showdown against Chelsea on Sunday. Express Sport is on hand to bring you all the latest from Old Trafford.

Manchester United want Asensio

09:00: Manchester United want to sign Real Madrid star Marco Asensio.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Don Balon.

The Red Devils are supposedly interested in luring him away from Spain with Asensio currently struggling for game time.

But Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen to snap him up.

Mourinho questions Chelsea transfer deal

08:40: Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has questioned why Nemanja Matic was allowed to move to Old Trafford from Chelsea.

“I was surprised when [Matic’s] agent called me to say ‘do you want him?’ ” Mourinho told Sky Sports News.

“I was surprised, but he’s an agent I know well. Normally he’s very direct and objective, he doesn’t waste time, he doesn’t try to get people to be interested in his players to improve their situation at their club.

“Normally he’s very straightforward, so when he told me ‘you can have him if you want’, of course I want.”

Ibrahimovic return could harm Lukaku

08:20: Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return could hamper Romelu Lukaku’s Manchester United career, according to Paul Merson.

“If Zlatan Ibrahimovic was there, he wouldn’t be untouchable,” Merson said on Sky Sports’ The Debate show.

“It would be very interesting as the crowd would be roaring for Ibrahimovic, which would put pressure on Mourinho and then Lukaku might go into his shell.

“He’s a confidence player – you need to put your arm around him. You don’t want to be having a go at him.

“That’s why Mourinho is telling him he’s untouchable.”
