Minority To Review Economy Today Ahead Of 2018 Budget

The Minority in Parliament will today, November 13, hold a roundtable discussion on the 2018 budget and the economic outlook of the country.

The Minority spokesperson on finance, Cassiel Ato Forson says the program is aimed at offering alternative solutions to the country’s economic challenges.

It comes ahead of the 2018 budget which will be presented in Parliament by the Finance minister Wednesday.

The former deputy minister of Finance told Starr News the event will not be used to talk down the economy.
“The Minority has a major role to play in the governing structure of this country and if Ghana succeeds we all succeed. We have views we want to share on expenditure, debt management, revenue etc. It’s not Political, Ghana first and it’s not about talking down on government or the economy but to ensure Ghana becomes a better place for all of us to live in”.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo says the 2018 budget will announce significant electricity tariff review and reduction to help boost the industrial sector.

Delivering a speech at the 6th Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and Quality Awards, an event organized by the Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ghana Standards Authority at the Banquet Hall of the State House, President Akufo Addo said the effects of the rapidly emerging foreign markets on the Ghanaian economy require that government introduces policies that would offer all the help Ghanaian industries need to stay competitive.
