Spio-Garbrah misunderstood by Ghanaians because he is confident – Duncan Williams

National Democratic Congress (NDC) hopeful, Dr Ekwow Spio-Grabrah has to a large extent been misunderstood by Ghanaians because he is naturally confident, General Overseer of the Action Chapel International Ministry, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has stated.

During a sermon on Sunday November 12, 2017 he said Ghanaians are hypocrites a very difficult to predict considering their view about persons and have refused to celebrate success.

“Ekwow Spio-Grabrah is very brilliant but misunderstood because in this country when you are very confident person people don’t like you. You have act like ….humility….humble…humble I am begging you…Oh yes sir. This country we are hypocrites because we don’t celebrate success. That is why we don’t attract because what you despise you will never attract. We don’t celebrate progress, we don’t celebrate riches. That is the difference between us and the Nigerians”, he observed.

Dr Ekwow Spio Garbrah has contested the flagbearer slot of his party but lost largely because he is perceived as an arrogant person but this has not deterred him from putting himself up for the contest ahead of the 2020 polls.

He is set to battle it out with persons like former President John Dramani Mahama, Sylvester Mensah and Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin who is also the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

Names including Former Ministers of Communications, Dr Edward Omane Boamah; Roads and Highways; Inusah Fuseini; Education, Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang; Foreign Affairs, Hannah Serwah Tetteh; Trade and Industry; Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, former Minister of State and Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovations, are all reported interested in leading the NDC into the 2020 election.




Others reported to be interested in leading the party after Mr Mahama’s reign include former Ministers of Youth and Sports, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuije; Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur; former Brong Ahafo Minister, Eric Opoku; former Central Regional Minister; Kwaku Rickett Hagan; former Minister of State at the presidency, Rashid Pelpuo; and former majority leader and now 2nd deputy Speaker of Parliament; Alban Kingsford Sumane Bagbin.

The likes of immediate past Senior Policy Adviser and Head of Presidential Delivery Unit, Dr Valerie Sawyer; former MP for La Dadekotopon, Nii Amasah Namoale; former Chief Executives of NHIA, Sylvester Mensah; COCOBOD’s Dr Stephen Opuni; Eco Medical Village’s, Dzifa Aku Ativor; former KMA boss, Kojo Bonsu; 1st vice Chairman of NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo; former Minister of Health, Alex Segbefia; MP for Klottey Korle; Dr Zanetor Rawlings; Anlo MP; Clement Kofi Humado and former vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur were also reported to be interested in the post.
