Petr Cech reveals what big change at Tottenham helped them overtake Arsenal

PETR CECH admits the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino has had a massive impact on Tottenham.
Pochettino guided Tottenham to second place last season, finishing above Arsenal for the first time in 22 years.

And Spurs currently sit three places above the Gunners in third after 11 games of season.

Arsenal can pull within a point of Tottenham on Saturday when they meet at the Emirates, but defeat would see their season plunged into something of a crisis already.

And Cech thinks Tottenham made huge strides when appointing the Argentine.

“The big factor was the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino,” Cech told Sky Sports.
“You can see from his work at Southampton, he showed that he is very capable as a manager and coach.

“For me that made the biggest difference because they have young, talented players as well as experienced players, their team is very well balanced.

“There was always something missing but I would say the difference was when Pochettino came.”

But Cech, who helped Arsenal win the FA Cup last season and won four league titles at Chelsea, believes Tottenham need a trophy to show for their improvements.
“They’ve been there in the last few years so now I think they have to make sure they win something to show the progression,” he added.

“Success is ultimately winning trophies. We were under pressure the last couple of years, people talking about winning trophies, obviously we are disappointed not to have won the title but we won FA Cups.

“Although the season was not always what we wanted, we always had a trophy at the end of it.”
