The Minority in Parliament has asserted that the 2018 budget violates basic financial laws in the country and must, therefore, be rejected by Parliament.
Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, last Wednesday presented what government described as the “Adwuma” budget to Parliament.
The Minority described the budget as 419, claiming it will unleash hardships on Ghanaians akin to the 1983 famine in the country.
The minority maintained its stance when the house debated the budget Tuesday.
Minority spokesperson on Finance, Mr. Cassiel Ato Forson, said the 2018 budget is a carbon copy of the 2017 mid-year budget presented by the Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori Atta.
This, he said is a clear violation of the Public Financial Management Act.
