Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter, Yemi Alade, has revealed that she almost put her education on hold when she got into the talent show that shot her into fame.
Speaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Wednesday, November 22, the ‘Johnny’ hit maker said music started affecting her academics at a point.
“It is very difficult because you can’t serve two masters at the same, music is demanding and education as well, it’s difficult juggling between the two because at some point it started affecting my academics and I realized that if I left that University with anything lower than a second class my parents will send me back to school.
“At one point of the talent show I was almost in the finals of the talent show and I almost deferred my exams, it was a very difficult moment but God sailed me through. So when it was time to read I turn off my phone and everything social and concentrate on my studies”.
Yemi Alade won the inaugural Peak Talent Show in 2009.
