FLOYD MAYWEATHER has told Amir Khan his shameful attempt at a Bushtucker Trial in I’m a Celebrity has ruined the Brit’s chances of a potential blockbuster fight.
Khan has made no secret of his desire to face Mayweather in the ring and only last month challenged the pound-for-pound great to end his retirement and fight him.
The English boxer hasn’t fought since losing to Canelo Alvarez 18 months ago but has been in the gym working on his return.
But he has taken a break from his training regime to enter the jungle for ITV’s popular I’m a Celebrity series.
And viewers were quick to vote for him to take on the first Bushtucker Trial where he screamed in terror and shouted “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” after getting too close to a snake.
And his performance on prime-time TV has seemingly cost him a possible showdown with Mayweather.
The 40-year-old mocked Khan for his stint in the jungle and suggested he should hang up his gloves altogether.
“For the last five years all I have been hearing is Amir Khan running his mouth off that he deserves a shot against me,” Mayweather told the Daily Star Sunday.
“It’s nothing new for me. Every fighter out there wants a chance against me because they know, win or lose, it’s going to be a big pay day for them.
“I have always maintained I am nobody’s meal ticket.
“I only set up fights with fighters that deserve it and who are going to be part of a great fight for fans.
“Only last month I read about him calling me out of retirement.
“He wants to fight the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and now I hear is running away from a few snakes and spiders.
“Please! He needs to get real and stick with TV.”
