Liverpool news: Emre Can more likely to join Juventus – Oliver Bierhoff

LIVERPOOL midfielder Emre Can has an 80 per cent chance of joining Juventus, according to Germany general manager Oliver Bierhoff.

Liverpool are facing the prospect of losing Emre Can on a free transfer as his contract is set to expire in the summer.

The Reds have been unable to agree terms on an extension with the Germany international and he will be free to make deals with foreign clubs in January.

He has been strongly linked with a move to Italy, with Serie A champions Juventus the most likely destination for the 23-year-old.

And Germany general manager Oliver Bierhoff thinks he has between a 60 and 80 per cent chance of joining Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

When asked about the futures of German duo Can and Leon Goretzka, both of whom are being linked with summer transfers, Bierhoff said: “We’re talking about two important players.

“They’ll have so many options for the future, there will be personal choices.

“At the moment England is the top destination for a player and after that there’s the lure of the powerful Spanish clubs.

“Emre Can and Goretzka would definitely be successful in Serie A too.

“Unless Inter return to the top though, if one of these players were to choose Italy now it would only be for Juventus.

“There’s not much chance for Goretzka, maybe only 20 per cent but I think there’s a lot more for Emre Can, I’d say 60 to 80 per cent.”

When asked about his future at Liverpool this week, Can was reluctant to reveal too much but did admit money was not the issue.

“Why do you ask me this? Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest,” the midfielder told the Liverpool Echo.

“It is not about money, that’s all I can say.

“Yes I could (sign a pre-contract with another club in January), but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We’ll see.”
