'Think before you speak' - Kofi Adams jabs Nana Addo

National Organizer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has taken a swipe at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking to Kwame Tutu on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, Kofi Adams called on the president to think before he speaks. Kofi Adams was reacting to President Nana Addo Dankwa’s claims that the NDC as a party, can be credited for scrapping all the pro-poor policies introduced by the NPP.

According to President Akufo-Addo, “I know, and I am sure I am not the only one who has heard, the people who are mounting political platforms, speaking on television and radio, and putting up posts on social media, hoping and praying for this policy to collapse.” He continued, “We know those who have a record for scrapping pro-poor policies – nursing and teacher trainees will bear testimony. I wish to assure them that Free SHS will be sustained, that Free SHS is here to stay. The overwhelming majority of Ghanaians support the choice that I have made in implementing Free SHS”.

President Akufo-Addo made this known on Saturday, 2nd December, 2017, when he delivered a speech at the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of the Kumasi Academy, in Kumasi.

But reacting, Kofi Adams said, the president does not understand what he says and sometimes when a speech is written for him, he just read it without seeking for clarity. He should think before he speaks. He should not just speak for the purpose of it but he should seek clarity on issues before saying anything. He is a talkative and has lost it.’’

When asked if his response was not harsh, he said, it is not harsh because if the president read the handing over notes presented to him, he would not be making these comments.

‘’It is very clear that the president has not read his handing over notes. He is still in the campaign mode and has refused to realize that he is now in charge. Ghanaians are complaining that things are though. He has refused to find out why Ghanaians are complaining. He has refused to ask why his pro-poor policies have failed to solve the problems Ghanaians are experiencing.

‘’The president should read his handing over notes and get things right before saying anything. He is the president of Ghana and not a candidate campaiging for a position,’’ he stressed.
