KABA goes home on Saturday

Nearly one month after he shockingly passed on at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, late Asempa FM presenter, Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong popularly known as KABA, will be laid to rest this weekend.

The host of afternoon political talk show, Ekosii Sen, died on Saturday, November 18 of unknown causes and his death has grieved not only his Multimedia family, but many others as well, from politicians to the listeners who tuned in to his show every week day.

The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, December 16 and Sunday, December 17. The final funeral rites will be held at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on Saturday. KABA’s body will be laid in state for public viewing followed by the burial service. He will be interred at the Osu Cemetery. The Thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday at the Gethsemane Methodist Church at Mamprobi, Accra.

Judging from the attendance at KABA’s memorial and one week observation, the funeral is expected to attract a big crowd which will include politicians (Former Presidents Jerry Rawlings and John?Agyekum Kufuor) have already confirmed their attendance, celebrities, his colleagues in the media and many others.




The grief caused by KABA’s death has been greatly felt especially by the Multimedia Group Limited and as the funeral approaches, the mood at its offices have become more somber.

Programmes Manager at Asempa FM, Sammy Yirenkyi told Showbiz it is a difficult moment for them. “For me, I was in some disbelief but it is now dawning on me that Kwadwo is really gone. It is hard to get over this and we will grieve for a long time,” he said.

He also urged sympathisers to come and pay their last respects to the journalist whose excellent work won him many admirers.

KABA is survived by his wife Valentina Acheampong and a seven-month-old daughter.
