Mobile Telecommunications giant, MTN has commissioned an ICT Centre for Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School in Cape Coast.
The facility estimated to cost GH 54,000 includes the refurbishment and equipping of the centre with ultra-modern computers, networking equipment as well as projectors to help teaching and learning of ICT in the School.
Handing over the facility, Acting Corporate Services Executive of MTN, Mrs Georgina Asare Fiagbenu explained the facility will help deepen the learning of ICT in the school. According to her, the aim of the MTN Ghana Foundation is to help support educational institutions across the country to nurture young minds and hearts.
“It is the belief of the MTN Ghana Foundation that this gift, collaboration between MTN and Huawei to this great school will empower the school in the teaching and learning of ICT. Our conviction is that this is going to enhance their knowledge and skills in areas like powerpoint presentations, graphics, and etcetera,” she explained.
Head of MTN Ghana account, Huawei technologies, Ghana, Ethan Liu explained the rationale behind the donation of the computers are to provide adequate, relevant and practical training that will help the students acquire the necessary knowledge in ICT.
The headmaster of Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High school, Rev. Franklin Boadu expressed the school’s appreciation in the gesture done by MTN Ghana Foundation and Huawei Technologies.
“We thank you for financing and stocking the centre with such resources; quality Computers and their accessories. We are appreciative of the kindness you have shown us. We will make sure we put these to good use and maintain them properly,” he assured.
Rev. Franklin Boadu called for more support for the school to enable them to deal with the numerous challenges the school is faced with as a result of the huge population it has.
He expressed his appreciation to the past students of the school for being the brain behind the project.
