Dwight Yorke launches defence of Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku

MANCHESTER UNITED star Romelu Lukaku is proving he is worth the money the club spent on him last summer.
That is the opinion of legendary Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke.

Lukaku has scored 15 goals this season in all competitions since his initial £75million move from Everton in July.

However, only four have come in his last 16 appearances, leading to criticism from some sections of the United support.

But Yorke has defended his fellow marksman and says his return so far is in line with his price tag.
And he has told Lukaku he must forget what the critics say and continue to focus on scoring goals.

“He has scored 15 goals and the season is not even halfway yet,” he told talkSPORT.

“That it is a good return for the money they spent.

“He has got the two goals in the last two games. That should give him a little bit more confidence.
“He has to enjoy what he is doing, take up the challenge, and forget what people say and write about him.

“You have got to be bigger than that. You are playing for the biggest football club in the country and he has to continue to go out and show what a quality player he is, because I’m a huge fan.”

Lukaku may be rested for Manchester United’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Bristol City on Wednesday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could make his first start since returning from his knee injury.
