Man Utd news: What Ashley Young said to Southampton star Dusan Tadic after elbow incident

MANCHESTER UNITED star Ashley Young allegedly denied elbowing Dusan Tadic when the Southampton wideman asked him about the incident during Saturday’s Premier League showdown.

Young and Tadic were in close quarters on corners during the goalless draw at Old Trafford last weekend.

And their duel came to a head when Young swung his right arm back into Tadic’s midriff, catching the winger.

Referee Craig Pawson missed the incident but the FA subsequently charged the United man with violent conduct.

United did not contest the charge and Young was handed a three-match ban, ruling him out of yesterday’s win over Everton and subsequent fixtures against Derby and Stoke.

Tadic has now lifted the lid on what Young said to him when he asked the 32-year-old to explain himself.

“Yes, he elbowed me and I asked him: ‘Why did you do this?’, I didn’t really understand,” he said.

“I can fall down but it was really strange because I didn’t expect that from him.

“I’m disappointed about that because you don’t expect that from him, because he’s an experienced player and he cannot do that I think.”

Tadic was pressed on whether he had provoked Young and that’s when he revealed Young’s response to him.

“At the next corner I asked him: ‘Why did you do that?’ and he said: ‘I didn’t do anything’.

“I said: ‘You didn’t do anything? You elbowed me in the stomach without reason’.

“Okay, if you want to push it’s different, but an elbow is different.”

Victor Lindelof slotted in at right-back in Young’s place as United beat Everton 2-0 yesterday, with Luke Shaw continuing at left-back.
