Elmina Sharks on Wednesday night defeated Ebusua Dwarfs 4-1 on penalties to become winners of the first Ndoum Cup played over two legs to foster unity among the two Ghana Premier League clubs in the Central Region.
The match was put together by businessman and politician, Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum, who also owns Elmina Sharks. The first leg was at the Cape Coast Stadium on January 1, 2018 but the second leg came off on Wednesday night in front of a packed crowd at the Ndoum Stadium.
Albert Hammond gave Dwarfs a 1-0 win with his 23rd minute goal in the first leg but that goal deficit was cancelled by Benjamin Boateng in the 29th minute in Wednesday’s game sending the game to penalty shootouts.
Suraj Ibrahim scored first for Elmina Sharks but J. E. Amoah missed for Dwarfs. Benjamin Tweneboah and Raphael Eseal Mensah both scored for Sharks and Dwarfs respectively.
Samuel Arthur gave Sharks the lead. When Dwarfs’ Ebenezer Aboagye missed his kick, Ismael Hammond delivered the masterstroke to give Sharks a deserved 4-1 win.
Sharks thus picked the GH?10,000 cash-prize plus a shield while Dwarfs had GH?5000.
