NPP government still feeding Ghanaians with lies – Anim-Piesie

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the Akufo-Addo led administration as a government that is deceiving Ghanaians.

Bernard Anim-Piesie, a member of the NDC National Communication team, who made the accusation on Dwaboase on Accra-based Power 97.9fm, stated that the current government has woefully failed to deliver on its promises.

His comments come after a former Nasara Coordinator, Abubakar Sulemana Lakulaku, described the Mahama government as incompetent, adding that the NDC rather added to the woes of the country and it had to take President Akufo-Addo and the NPP to assuage the hardships of Ghanaians.

But Anim-Piesie in a sharp rebuttal attributed his claims to the NPP government’s inability to reduce unemployment through industrialization and social interventions as the then Candidate Akufo-Addo told Ghanaians in 2016.

“This government is lying to us and amassing wealth for its appointees. Where is the One District, One Factory? They have not been able to build even one,” he claimed.

Anim Piesie said juxtaposing the budget allocation to the presidency during the Mahama administration and the Akufo-Addo administration, the NPP government should have done a lot for Ghanaians through its numerous policies that are controlled at the presidency.

“330 million cedis was sent to the Presidency before Mahama left office, but less than one year when the NPP came to govern us they approved 1.56 billion Cedis for the presidency in 2017. When Ghanaians raised red flags, the government said they’ll use part of the money to run the Zongo Development Fund and other projects like the ‘One Village, One Dam’. The Zongo Development Fund Bill had not been passed by Parliament but they pointed to it as a project they were going to use the money for. In a year, they have done none of these projects. Not even the $1 million for each constituency. This government is deceiving us.”

He said the Presidency had misused its budget allocation without Ghanaians benefiting from that money, adding “if that money had not been misused, there would not have been another budget allocation of 1.9 billion cedis in the 2018 budget.”

Mr. Anim-Piesie said when he compares the Akufo-Addo administration to the erstwhile Mahama government, there is nothing good about the NPP government except that they have mastered the craft of deceit.

When the host, Kaakyire Kwesi Appea-Apraku, asked him to describe the governance of the NPP, the communicator said: “We have sold our Colour TV for Black and White that doesn’t work until you manipulate it.”
