Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Arsenal: One man is driving Manchester United transfer deal

NEW Arsenal scout Sven Mislintat is behind the Gunners’ interest in Manchester United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reports.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Mkhitaryan from Manchester United after the Red Devils offered him up to the Gunners.

Jose Mourinho’s side are currently locked in negotiations for Alexis Sanchez who, despite initially preferring a move to Manchester City, now looks likely to end up at Old Trafford instead.

Arsenal are also interested in snapping up Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Bordeaux forward Malcom.

And the Daily Mail say new scout Mislintat is behind the club’s pursuit of Mkhitaryan.

The Armenia international has blown hot and cold during his time at United.

Signed from Dortmund in 2016, the player starred as United won the Europa League and EFL Cup under Mourinho last term.

He has, however, found life in England trickier this season with the player struggling to earn the trust of Mourinho.

And the Daily Mail say Mislintat is a huge admirer of Mkhitaryan and would love to bring him to Arsenal.

Speaking at the weekend, United boss Mourinho refused to guarantee the 28-year-old would still be at the club come the end of the month.

“My approach to players is that every player has a price,” Mourinho said when asked about the player’s situation.

“It doesn’t matter who he is. It doesn’t matter the level. It doesn’t matter the prestige, the status. I think every player has a price.

“And I am not the kind of blind manager…blind in the sense of, this player is untouchable, can never be sold. I think every player has a price.

“So when the transfer window is open, it’s also open for any club that is interested in our players. Then it’s up to us to make the decision: yes or no.

“It’s up to us to decide what we think is the right price. But Mkhitaryan played the last match in the FA Cup and probably will play the next one [against Stoke]. He’s a little bit the same in relation to other players that are involved in this gossip of the transfer market.

“He is our player and a very good player. So Saturday [he is] training, then Sunday [he is] selected and Monday [he will] play.”
