MANCHESTER UNITED may repeat tactics used to sign Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez with Real Madrid to land Gareth Bale, according to reports.
Manchester United remain keen on Real Madrid forward Bale despite nearing a deal to sign Sanchez from Arsenal.
The Chile international is expected to be unveiled today after leaked images surfaced showing the player in the Red Devils’ home strip, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving to Arsenal as part of the arrangement.
Meanwhile at Old Trafford, David De Gea is again being linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the La Liga giants set to pursue a deal at the end of the season.
And Spanish outlet Don Balon claim that the Spaniard may be used as bait to lure Bale to Old Trafford – at long last.
The player has long been tipped to join Manchester United.
While a youngster at Southampton, the Red Devils attempted to snap him up – but Tottenham ultimately won the race for his signature.
And four years after that, they lost out again with Bale swapping Spurs for Real Madrid instead.
However, Don Balon say Bale could move as part of a deal that would see De Gea jump ship to the Bernabeu.
It is said United value De Gea at £60million, while Real would want at least £70m to part with Bale.
And should both clubs be able to negotiate, then they may end up swapping teams with little money being exchanged in return.
That would echo a deal for Sanchez with United paying nothing to Arsenal. Mkhitaryan is the payment in that transfer.
A similar swap involving De Gea is supposedly Mourinho’s plan.
Whether the rest of the United hierarchy agree, however, remains to be seen.
