CHELSEA owner Roman Abramovich will ask for Marco Asensio in exchange for Eden Hazard joining Real Madrid, according to sensational claims from Spain.
Eden Hazard has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid and Los Blancos are expected to break the bank for him in the summer.
The Belgian’s reluctance to sign a new deal being offered by the Blues is leading Abramovich to accept there is little he can do to stop him making the switch to the Bernabeu.
But the Russian billionaire will not let him go on the cheap.
Reports in Spain have suggested Abramovich is keen on the idea of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the Premier League with the Portuguese seemingly unhappy in the capital.
But Spanish publidcation Don Balon claim Abramovich’s advisers are pushing him to pursue a move for Asensio instead.
With Ronaldo 31 years of age, Chelsea feel a move for 22-year-old Asensio would be a better long-term investment.
Midfielder Asensio has already been tipped for a bright future after impressing for Los Blancos but club president Florentino Perez could be willing to sell if it means finally landing Hazard.
Asensio, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, admitted last month he was happy at Madrid despite not getting regular game time under Zinedine Zidane.
“It is difficult to manage a squad as good as our one, but Zidane knows he can count on me,” he said.
