Video: Ebony’s last moments with family before fatal crash

A video has emerged on social media in which late songstress, Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng, was captured in a mood of excitement with her mother and some family friends.

A lady in the video, identified as Nana Ama, could be heard saying in the Akan dialect that she was Ebony’s mother.

Ebony crushed to death together with three others including another young lady captured in the video, late Thursday, at Mankranso on her way from Sunyani, the capital of the Brong Ahafo Region.

She had gone to visit her mother who had just returned from the UK, her househelp told Joy FM’s Lexis Bill, when he visited her residence in Accra moments after the news broke Friday.

Ebony’s vehicle reportedly attempted to avoid a heap of sand left on one side of the road by contractors and crashed head-on, into a VIP passenger bus.

There was no sign to warn drivers of the danger ahead, Barima Yusif, a local journalist, reported.

The journalist told Daniel Dadzie on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM that an uncle of the late musician, who lives at Bechem also in the Region, has identified at a hospital.

Ghana’s Beyoncé

President of Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffuor, said Ebony was on her way to becoming Ghana’s version of American music icon Beyoncé with her unique voice and style.

Obuor, as he is popularly known, the MUSIGA President disclosed that one of Ebony’s songs ‘Sponsor’ was the most played song in 2017 with over 20,000 playtimes nationwide.

He said the 20-year-old was billed to leave the country for Belgium to begin her tour of Europe for the first time, on February 17,

“She was just on her way to another level as an artise,” Obour lamented.

He said a delegation from MUSIGA is already in Sunyani to condole with the mother of the late musician.
