Jose Mourinho drops Man Utd bombshell in latest twist to Paul Pogba mystery injury

JOSE MOURINHO admits he doesn’t have a clue if Paul Pogba will be available for this week’s crunch Champions League showdown with Sevilla.
Paul Pogba missed United’s FA Cup fifth-round win at Huddersfield this weekend due to a mystery illness.

The French midfielder was in line to play then failed to travel to the John Smith’s Stadium, sparking fresh speculation about his Old Trafford future.

But the club were quick to dismiss reports of a bust-up between Mourinho, Pogba and Phil Jones following United’s shock defeat at Newcastle last weekend.

Mourinho is said to have blamed the duo for the 1-0 loss and got involved in a huge row with them at St James’ Park.
Mourinho hauled Pogba off in the second half and the Frenchman sat on the sidelines with a face like thunder, but Manchester United have denied reports of a falling-out and described the claim as “total rubbish”.

The club have also refused to reveal details of the nature of Pogba’s illness, but he is expected to report to training this morning and be assessed by the medical staff.

Mourinho and his squad will fly to Spain on Tuesday after holding a training session at the club’s Carrington base.

Mourinho will be keen to have Paul Pogba on the plane for the last-16 first leg at the Ramon Sanchez Stadium on Wednesday.

Marcus Rashford, Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia could all return to the fold, but the manager does not know if Pogba will be available.
“Can we recover some of them for Wednesday? I believe so,” he said. “I think Rashford, Herrera and Valencia have a chance. Paul I don’t know.

“Marco Rojo, Phil Jones, Marouane Fellaini and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, I don’t think they have any chance, so we arrive at this crucial moment with some problems.

“But mentality is very important, and we have a strong team with a strong team mentality. We know it is a very difficult match but we will go for it.”
