MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly hope they can strike a swap deal with Real Madrid involving Paul Pogba and Toni Kroos.
Pogba’s Manchester United future has been plunged into uncertainty amid reports of a bust-up with Mourinho.
The France international is the Red Devils’ midfield maestro but has struggled for form in recent weeks and looked at odds with Mourinho’s system.
It has recently been suggested the 24-year-old has confronted his manager about his best position in a bid to arrest his Manchester United slump.
However, Mourinho has dismissed any talk of a rift with Pogba and insisted the player is being utilised in the best role possible.
Yet Spanish outlet Don Balon say things between the midfielder and his manager are not as smooth as Mourinho has insisted.
And the 54-year-old is reportedly weighing up a spectacular swap deal with Real Madrid involving Kroos.
The Germany international has been regularly linked with a move to Old Trafford dating back to his time in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.
Many expected him to join United in the summer of 2014 but, after Louis van Gaal replaced David Moyes, he ended up at Real Madrid instead.
Kroos has since established himself as a huge Bernabeu hit, helping Los Blancos win La Liga and back to back Champions League titles.
And Don Balon say United are willing to offer Pogba to Real if it means securing Kroos’ signature in return.
Meanwhile, former Red Devils star Paul Parker has urged Pogba to silence his critics.
“What he said when he re-signed was ‘I am back to prove people wrong’,” Parker told Sky Sports.
“That should be his ethos now – to go out there and do it. The papers are talking about how he is telling Manchester United and Mourinho what he wants to do.
“Those kind of headlines shouldn’t be there. People are either making it up or he has kind of said that to somebody and it has got out.
“His point should be I won’t to prove people wrong. He has come for a lot of money, the easy road out is to come out and say ‘I am not happy and I want this and that’.
“The [best] way is to go out there and prove people wrong and go show them you can adapt, change and prove that what Manchester United paid is worth it because you are not a one-trick pony.”
