The Diaso District Police Command of the Ghana Police Service in the Central region have mounted a search for a 32-year-old motor mechanic, Kwame Amos alias Shatta Wale for allegedly murdering his friend over a GH¢40 bet in the early hours of today.
The Odikro of Nkronua-Anafor Nana Kwame Ayerebi, explained that, the two were fighting over a GH¢40 bet which got Amos (Shatta Wale) infuriated in the process.
He reportedly left the scene to grab a knife which he used to slash the throat of the deceased leading to his death on the spot.
The victim and the accused are all Kusasis who have settled in the area as farmers according to the Chief.
The body of the deceased has since been sent to the Bibiani government hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Osei Agyemang who is the police commander for the area confirmed the murder incident to Star News’ Central regional correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour and indicated that the Police are investigating the matter further as there have been contradictory accounts on the circumstances surrounding the murder of the mechanic.
He, however, stressed that the police are on the lookout for the perpetrator of the crime who is on the run.
