Sky Sports pundit Balague lifts lid on Bale’s future: Man Utd and Chelsea favourites

GARETH BALE looks likely to leave Real Madrid this summer with Manchester United and Chelsea both potential options.

That’s the view of Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague.

Gareth Bale’s future at the Bernabeu remains in doubt following his struggles with injury this season.

Real Madrid are set for a mass overhaul of their squad in the summer following their disastrous defence of their La Liga title.

And Balague reckons one or two of Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema will be shipped out.

Bale is thought to be open to the idea of a return to the Premier League, however Balague says a return to Tottenham is unlikely.

“They want to change one or two of the BBC,” Balague told Sky Sports.

“The story of Bale being in the market first started in AS on February 18 when we said they are willing to sell was continued by Marca, which means the club is happy to let the world know about it.

“Papers point out at the body language of Bale in the last few games suggesting he is not happy with the situation, especially in the last match against Leganes when he was warming up with his trainers rather than his boots, and just generally he seemed very disappointed not to start. He has been on the bench for three of the last four games.

“I think he feels that Zidane is not treating him properly and that even though they had all the medical reports of his situation that the club didn’t act accordingly or in the right way, hence the recurrence of injuries. He now expects to be on the bench for more games.

“The interesting thing is that nobody knows if Zidane will be there next season, but both sides know that he is on the market and if he is on the market I don’t see many clubs able to pay the money he will cost.

“I don’t think he will go back to Spurs and he’s not a player for City. Manchester United perhaps will be the clear favourites as Mourinho is a fan, maybe Chelsea, but I don’t know of any interest from them just yet.”

Bale remains under contract with Los Blancos until 2022.
