BARCELONA stars Lionel Messi and Philippe Coutinho have reportedly laughed at the hysteria surrounding Neymar’s foot injury because they know it’s not as bad as feared.
Neymar has been at the forefront of Paris Saint-Germain’s quest to secure glory on three fronts this season.
But he faces a race against time to return to fitness for their crucial Champions League showdown with Real Madrid next week.
Neymar was stretchered off during PSG’s showdown with Marseille on Sunday night and scans have shown he has suffered a sprained ankle, as well as a fissue in his fifth metatarsal.
Neymar’s chances of playing against Real next week as the Ligue 1 giants look to overcome a 3-1 deficit appear to be extremely slim.
However, the latest reports from Spain suggest the 25-year-old’s injury may have been overblown – and that Messi and Coutinho know that.
According to Diario Gol, people close to Neymar don’t think his injury is as bad as suggested.
And there are apparently two reasons why it’s been made out to be more serious than it is.
PSG are supposedly trying to deceive Real by claiming Neymar won’t be able to face them at the Parc des Princes.
Neymar is also allegedly trying to clean up his image among PSG supporters, with some not taking to him yet.
The Brazilian is said to be hoping they’ll see he’s returned against Real for the good of the club and is willing to do anything for them.
Diario Gol claim the circus surrounding Neymar’s injury has caused hilarity among his friends Messi and Coutinho.
The Barcelona duo are said to have received messages from the PSG ace himself explaining he’ll be back in time to take on Real.
