Resign over ‘shameful’ comments – Kweku Baako advises Obiri Boahen

The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Mr Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr, has advised Mr Obiri Boahen, Deputy NPP General Secretary to resign over comments he made to the effect that the presidency advanced an amount of GHC50 billion towards the NPP’s 2017 National Delegates Conference.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo this morning, Mr Kweku Baako said Nana Obiri Boahene should resign over the ‘shameful’ statement he ‘fabricated’, as he himself owned up.

Meanwhile the NPP has tasked its Steering Committee to investigate the allegation stating that it was “palpable falsehood” and “indeed, Nana Obiri Boahen himself has subsequently admitted to the falsity of his baseless allegation.”

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) denied all the claims attributed to the Deputy Secretary of the party that the party received an advance of 50 billion Ghana cedis from the presidency for its 2017 National delegates’ conference in Cape Coast, as mynewsgh.com earlier reported.

The statement signed by the NPP’s Acting General Secretary, John Boadu said there was no truth in the allegation made by Mr Nana Obiri Boahen even as he (Obiri Boahen himself) has admitted and should be disregarded as ‘palpable falsehood’.

The statement reiterated its resolve to scrupulously guide the line that differentiates between Government and party and called on all party members to take note accordingly.

Mr Obiri Boahen had alleged in a leaked tape that “when we were going to Cape Coast the other time, I was given GHC3,000 as a member of the Resolution Committee and an additional GHC2,000 for fuel. Meanwhile, the Flagstaff House gave the party an amount of GHC50 billion”, he had alleged.

He later, by himself, speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FM said those statements were indeed his but that it was a falsehood he planted to his opponent in order to get information of superior value from his opponent with whom he was talking.
