Management of Accra Hearts of Oak have decided that the club will no longer sign players on short terms contract as a result of recent happenings at the club concerning player contracts.
Hearts lost key players to free transfers during the transfer window including the likes of Captain Thomas Abbey, Vincent Atingah and Winful Cobbinah after failing to renew their contracts.
According to Public Relations Officer of the club, Kwame Opare Addo, the constant loss of key players has affected the club’s quest to end their trophy drought and the board has learnt from their past mistakes.
“Going forward the board has decided we will not sign on players for lesser years, ie, less than three years,” he said.
“That aside the club has begun negotiations with players who have less than a year left on their contracts.
“That is because we value these players and we believe they can help us win something in the future.
“It will always come with money but we have learnt good lessons and we don’t want to repeat the mistakes of the past. We want to have a consistent team of players who can help us win trophies.”
Hearts will begin their Ghana Premier League campaign against Eleven Wonders.
