MAROUANE FELLAINI has decided to leave Manchester United and is talks over a move Roma.
Manchester United wanted Fellaini to stay and put two contract offers on the table.
The first was a 12-month extension which was mooted back in September.
The second came months later as United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward, on the instruction of Jose Mourinho, tried to get Fellaini to stay.
But it is understood the 30-year-old is not happy over the length of deal on the table.
Fellaini knows it could be the last big contract he signs and he wants a lengthy deal and an attractive package to put pen to paper.
That hasn’t been forthcoming at United so Fellaini has decided to run down his current deal and look at his options in the summer.
Turkish giants Galatasaray were keen and they offered him a three-year-deal worth around £150,000-a-week.
The package would guarantee Fellaini more than £21m in earnings but the midfielder has his doubts over playing Turkey.
He would rather uproot his family for Italy and believes Serie A is more competitive and suited to his game.
Inter Milan and Juventus are also interested in Fellaini but it is Roma who have moved first.
Roma bosses have made contact with Fellaini’s representatives and he has told them he is interested in moving to the Italian capital.
David Moyes brought in Fellaini as one of his first major signings for almost £30million in 2013.
While initially being targeted by fans, he has turned his career around at Old Trafford and he is now a key part of the team under Mourinho.
